While out cruising in the Jeep today, we thought, "Hey, let's drive through Lone Elk Park." Unsure if we would even see any animals, as it was 94° on this steamy afternoon, today was the best trip ever!!! The bison were laying just off the road enjoying their dirt baths. Our huge bull elk was so close, his velvet was amazing. We also saw a few whitetail bucks, all were bedded down. And as luck would have it, we finally got a photo of a 2016 fawn. Her mother "parked" her under a fallen tree in the shade. It was incredibly tempting to creep closer, but we know better, and left her safe and sound. A wonderful day taking in the sun and watching these wild creatures.
